I urge you all to plant saplings on my birthday CM Shivraj

Bhopal Today the Bhopal Municipal Corporation, in partnership with Smart City Bhopal, celebrated the anniversary of the year-long campaign of planting ‘one-sapling-a-day’ by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Realizing the need and significance of trees to the environment and the benefit they bring to future generations, CM Chouhan had taken a pledge to plant ‘one-sapling-a-day’ last year on 19 February 2021, during the Narmada Janmotsav celebrations in Amarkantak.

Commemorating the first anniversary of this historic feat, CM Chouhan planted 365 saplings in the TT Nagar area of Bhopal, along with prominent NGOs working in the area of environmental conservation, in the presence of a host of dignitaries like the Hon’ble Minister of Home Affairs Narottam Mishra, Hon’ble Minister of Urban Development and Housing Shri Bhupinder Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Medical Education, Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Relief & Rehabilitation Vishwas Sarang, MP of Bhopal Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, BJP State President VD Sharma, MLA Smt. Krishna Gaur, Senior BJP Leader Shri Murlidhar Rao among others.

Despite the busyness of his schedule, CM Chouhan followed this resolution and planted a sapling every day, even while he was traveling to other states campaigning for elections in Gujarat, Bengal, and Kerala. Speaking at this momentous occasion, CM Chouhan said, “I am deeply grateful to those who partnered with me and made my journey of planting one-sapling-a-day throughout the past year successful.

Your partnership has also instilled in me the confidence that together we can go far and accomplish great deeds of public welfare. It is my deep desire that we may continue to make great efforts in the direction of saving the environment and making tree-planting an integral part of our lives. I am happy to say that I followed through on my resolve with integrity and planted one sapling every day. Now, I feel like my day is incomplete if I do not plant a sapling. These saplings have become like a part of my family – my nieces and nephews.”

He encouraged each one to heed the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s words of responding to the ever-increasing climate change crisis. CM Chouhan also said, “It is time that we joined forces to make tree plantation a Jan Andolan, for which I have already laid a strong foundation by showing that if our resolve is strong, we can accomplish anything. So, if everyone takes a pledge to plant saplings every day then we can save our environment.”
